Wangford Veterinary Clinic, based in Beccles, has been awarded Practice of the Year at the 2020 Petplan Veterinary Awards. The winners were announced on 28 May during a virtual ceremony held on Petplan’s Facebook page and hosted by author and presenter

It's Spring Craft Fair time at the Hall – Saturday 6th April – will see a collection of very different stalls selling everything from superb photographic prints via food, to gifts for all those birthdays and special occasions. Do come along and have a cup of coffee/tea and a piece of home made cake and wander amongst the colourful array on offer and then there’s hot bacon rolls and tasty soups to savour at lunch time.

It is with enormous sadness that All Hallows’ board of trustees has to announce that All Hallows Healthcare Trust and all of its services are likely to close, subject to staff consultation. They have been forced to accept that it is now impossible to balance income and costs on an ongoing basis.

Were you born in Westhall or brought up in the village?   How often do you sadly attend a funeral and meet childhood friends, old school mates and past neighbours who you haven’t seen for a while, sometimes years?  But when you do, it is always on such an occasion, and where it is so often suggested that “…we must all get together in happier circumstances …”

IT'S open house at Slaughden Sailing Club and Aldeburgh Yacht Club (AYC) on Sunday 5th May and Sunday 19th May respectively and everyone is invited to come and have some fun. This is a chance to try sailing and learn some new skills; experience the beautiful river Alde in a boat – under wind or engine power. Sailing is an activity that can be enjoyed at any age and many levels.

Rosedale Funeral Home  in association with Barclays Bank are holding a Charity Golf day in aid of  Nature and Nurture  children's bereavement charity and Emmaus  a charity that aims to combat poverty and homelessness, at Bungay & Waveney Golf Club on Thursday 13th June.

THE February meeting of the Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group will hear from Berry Mayall about childhood during the Second World War. Bringing in the harvest. Watching for enemy aircraft. Rescuing survivors from the wreckage of bombed houses. Keeping the family business running when parents were enlisted into war-work. These are just a few examples of how children and young people made substantial contributions to the war effort during the Second World War.  

DO you fancy: Getting fitter and more active? Making new friends? Learning new skills? Haven't played since school or for 30+ years? No problem, all abilities welcome. Then come along to Adult Social Netball Sessions every Tuesday between 7-8pm at The Venue at Sir John Leman High School. 1st session free, thereafter £4 a session.

THE doors of the new Woodbridge Museum opened for the first time at Maritime Woodbridge in October. Visitors were able to see the Reception area and shop. Following this the museum closed in order to start the fitting out in earnest. Work is progressing well and before long it is hoped that the Friends of the Museum will be able to visit and see the complete building. The museum will open its doors to the public in April 2019.

THE next Suffolk Family History Society Ipswich Group talk will take place on Thursday 22nd November at 7.15pm.  Roy Tricker, known for his love and appreciation of Suffolk Churches and what is inside them presents "The Fun and Fascination of Churches" at the Co-op Education Centre, 11 Fore Street, Ipswich, IP4 1JW (Car park Waterworks St, IP4 1JG).  £2 members, non-members warmly welcomed £2.50  - you can join the Society at the meeting if you wish.Tickets are not required - just turn up and pay at the door.

The Public Hall is proud to welcome back the very talented Claire Welham and her wonderful dancing & singing troupe, The Tigerlilys. They are back to Beccles for a momentous treble bill of performances for the last part of this year, one per month, starting with the popular Night at the Musicals, followed by the lovely family show, Once Upon a Fairy Tale and finishing with the sassy Diva Fever which has been wowing audiences in the area.
