Anthems for Advent
GIPPESWYK Singers are delighted to present “Anthems for Advent” – a concert featuring special guests Nightingale Wind Quintet and organist John Hutchings, conducted by Geoff Lavery. They invite you to join them for an evening of uplifting music to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season; including beautiful anthems and carols, a superb organist, special performances from the Nightingale Wind Quintet and delicious refreshments to send everyone home glowing with seasonal good will!
The concert will be held at 7.30pm on Sunday 3rd December, in St Mary’s Church, Great Bealings, IP13 6NY.
Tickets are £10 available from: Sarah Galley, 4 William Close, Eyke, IP12 2SA (please send SAE with cheque payable to “Gippeswyk Singers”). Drinks and tasty refreshments will be served (in exchange for a donation to church funds).
Nightingale Wind Quintet was formed in 2006 by a group of experienced Suffolk musicians whose aim is to promote wind music, playing a wide range of styles, and to raise money for local charities. Members are: Samantha Ellis (flute), Judith Weale (oboe), John Helleur (clarinet), Marian Hellen (horn), Karen Bainbridge (bassoon).
Gippeswyk Singers are an accomplished and expressive chamber choir who perform regularly throughout East Anglia as well as concert tours further afield, delighting audiences with sensitive and moving choral arrangements under the artistic musical direction of Geoff Lavery. Their Snape Maltings debut of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius with Beccles Choral Society and Lambeth Orchestra earlier this year received outstanding reviews. Future concerts include Bach’s St John Passion in Felixstowe on Good Friday, 30th March 2018 and a tour to the West Country (Bath and Frome) next summer.
Profits from this season’s concerts will go to support local charities: Bipolar UK (Ipswich) and Sound On (Ipswich and District) – a talking local newspaper for the vision impaired.
