U3A WELCOMES MEMBERS OLD AND NEW TO OUR AUTUMN TERM

AT our Open Day on Friday 1st September The University of the Third Age in East Suffolk members were joined by many visitors who went on to become new members on the day. The Committee, Group Leaders and Volunteers welcome you all. We are delighted to have 2,000 members in well over 170 interest groups with new subjects in the pipe line.

Details of talks in our four campuses in Kesgrave, Woodbridge, Felixstowe and Saxmundham are in the current Members Handbook (blue version).

KESGRAVE: Monday 30th October – 2pm at Kesgrave Community Centre, Twelve Acres Approach, Bell Lane, Kesgrave, IP5 1JF. The Ipswich Charter Hangings by Isobel Clover – an account by the designer of the creation of the 800th Anniversary of the granting of the Charter. Refreshments follow the meeting.

FELIXSTOWE: Thursday 2nd November – 10.30am at the Salvation Army Hall, Junction of Ranelagh Road and Cobbold Road, Felixstowe, IP11 7EL. An Afternoon with Joyce Grenfell by Gillian Grinham – monologues from her repertoire interspersed with details about her life and work. Refreshments follow the meeting.

SAXMUNDHAM: Thursday 12th October – 2pm at The Market Hall, 29 High Street, Saxmundham, IP17 1AF. A Year in the Life of Minsmere by Alex Bass – how Minsmere became a resource and the typical birds, butterflies, plants and mammals that can be seen. Refreshments follow the meeting.

Thursday 9th November – 2pm at Market Hall, 29 High Street, Saxmundham, IP17 1AF. Women Can Fly by Sally Dearman-Cummings – one woman’s journey from jumping out of aeroplanes to becoming a civil pilot and the first woman to pass the RAF fast-jet training system. Refreshments follow the meeting.

WOODBRIDGE: Talks are held at Woodbridge Community Hall, Station Road, Woodbridge, IP12 4AU. Refreshments available from 10am with the talk commencing at 10.30am. Although no talks are planned for Woodbridge till December 15th members and visitors will be welcome at Kesgrave, Saxmundham and Felixstowe.

 

Please remember to show your Blue Membership Cards at talks. Visitors are invited to come to one talk before actually enrolling as a full member. If it is your first visit, please make yourself known to the Campus Co-ordinator so they can welcome you accordingly.
