BILLINGFORD WINDMILL
AT last the restoration can be seen to have started – the stocks and cap removed. The cap has been taken to millwrights works in Suffolk, the metal stocks will be replaced by wood. Some damage to the top tracks and brickwork was discovered (more than was anticipated) on removal of the cap. We need to raise more money to cover the cost of these extra problems.
The mill will be open one Sunday per month, April – October, with one exception, Saturday 19th August 19th part of the Harleston and Waveney Festival. This will be the annual Teddy parachute drop plus an Anglo American day, 10am – 4pm.
Our first open day will be Easter Monday, 12noon – 4pm, with an Easter Egg Hunt for under 15’s, and an adult Treasure Hunt with good prizes for over 18’s.
Tours of the mill, adults £3, concessions £2, children over three free.
Extra events will be held – Ceilidh in June and a talk by the last commercial Billingford miller in July. We will also open for private visits by arrangement.
Refreshments are available on site from the Shepherds Hut.
