Get up and glow for St Elizabeth Hospice
ST Elizabeth Hospice’s biggest event of the year, the Midnight Walk, is back for its 11th birthday event – and if you sign up before the end of January you can save £5!
The hugely popular event, which saw a record-number of people taking part in May earlier this year, will return on May 20th 2017 and back by popular demand is the neon theme!
However, this year’s Midnight Walk will have a few alterations to the past few years, with a brand new start and finish location for the event – the Cornhill in Ipswich town centre! Also amended for the 2017 event are two brand new routes – a six mile and a 12 mile – both of which will pass the hospice on Foxhall Road so all walkers will have the opportunity to hang a personalised tag on the Tree of Remembrance.
Catherine Sheppard, St Elizabeth Hospice’s events and challenges fundraiser, said: “We are very excited to launch the Midnight Walk 2017 and we hope it will be as successful as 2016 which raised an incredible £220,000 for the hospice, making a huge difference to our patients and their families. Back by popular demand is the neon theme which has proved very popular! It was fantastic to watch Ipswich glow last year and we wanted to bring that back again to the town.”
All participants will receive an exclusive Midnight Walk 2017 T-shirt, medal and a hot chocolate at the finish line.
You can save £5 and register for just £10 with the early bird offer before January 31st 2017. From February 1st registration will be £15.

Make a difference this New Year and volunteer for your local hospice
Why not do something amazing in 2017 and volunteer for St Elizabeth Hospice?
The local charity is always looking for new people to join their incredible team of more than 1,100 volunteers, and offers a variety of volunteer roles, whether it’s in one of their 26 shops, at their highly popular fundraising events or in the hospice building itself, assisting on the ward, in day care or with administrative tasks.
St Elizabeth Hospice is also keen to hear about skills and experience that volunteers can bring to the charity, creating and developing new roles to make use of volunteers areas of expertise.
Sue Joy, HR Volunteers Business Partner at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “The hospice is extremely grateful to its wonderful team of volunteers, and we rely on their hard work and dedication to open our doors.
“Volunteering can be a great way to meet people in your community, learn new skills and boost your CV, all whilst supporting a good cause.
“By donating their precious time and invaluable skills, our volunteers save us an incredible £1.01million a year, money which we can use to support our patients and their families and carers.”

Hospice needs your unwanted presents
Did you receive any unwanted or duplicate presents this Christmas?
Then why not donate them to your local St Elizabeth Hospice shop, so they can be sold to raise money to help provide vital care and support to patients and their families.
Jason Rudderham, St Elizabeth Hospice’s head of retail, said: “There’s always a few presents we are given that we don’t want or don’t need, so instead of putting it to the back of your cupboard, please consider donating them to the hospice.
“Whether it’s clothing or accessories that don’t fit, homeware that doesn’t suit your house, or if your child was given two of the same toy, these items can be resold in our hospice shops.
“All the money raised from their sale goes towards providing local hospice care for local people.”
Items including clothes, accessories, homeware, DVDs, books, toys and china can all be donated directly to St Elizabeth Hospice’s shops. To find your nearest St Elizabeth Hospice shop, visit www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk/shops
If you would like to donate furniture, please don’t drop it off, just call 0845 259 0319 and the hospice will come and collect it from you.
