THE February meeting of the Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group will hear from Berry Mayall about childhood during the Second World War. Bringing in the harvest. Watching for enemy aircraft. Rescuing survivors from the wreckage of bombed houses. Keeping the family business running when parents were enlisted into war-work. These are just a few examples of how children and young people made substantial contributions to the war effort during the Second World War.

Berry Mayall is Professor of Childhood Studies at the University College London Institute of Education. She has conducted many research studies on childhood and has written extensively on sociological approaches to childhood.

The meeting will be held on Monday 18th February at 2.30pm at Kelsale Village Hall, IP17 2PB.

Admission: members £1, visitors £3, incl tea/coffee.
