Matinee Music Hall comes to Leiston Film Theatre

LADIES and gentlemen, roll up; roll up, for an afternoon of variety and nostalgia, as your most worthy Chairman proudly presents ‘The Good Old Music Hall Days’ at Leiston Film Theatre on Wednesday 19th October at 2.30pm.

The show provides an opportunity to sit back, relax and revel in the company of professional variety entertainers, as the Master of Ceremonies, Mr Leo Shavers, introduces a dazzling display of talent from comedy and mystery, to music and song, in two hours of traditional theatrical entertainment.

Under the direction of Danny La Rue’s musical marvel, David Carter, the headline cast includes the kingpin of comedy, Micky Zany, the illusions of The Victorian Conjurer, international singing sensation and her canine companion, Miss Soprano and Mr Pickle, the ludicrous Lady Felicity and the melodious Leo Shavers.

The show is the first matinee theatre to be presented at Suffolk’s oldest cinema for a number of years and the team behind the show have been keen to keep ticket prices to a minimum, so that everyone has an opportunity to be well and truly entertained and with all seats priced at only a tenner, the show has proved popular with groups, who are planning an afternoon out at the theatre.

Originally built in 1914, as an entertainment centre for East Suffolk, Suffolk’s oldest cinema was home to both cinematic entertainment and the location for numerous variety shows and concerts and even today, although primarily a cinema, the venue continues in the tradition of staging a careful selection of quality live entertainment, alongside the big screen blockbusters.

Musical Hall Chairman, Leo Shavers, will be on hand, complete with gavel, to maintain order throughout the afternoon and is very much looking forward to taking to the Film Theatre stage. “In such a historic building, such as this charming old Picture House, it’s always a genuine pleasure to recall the days of old time Music Hall and present a discerning display of melodious musicality, scintillating song, conjuring convolutions and blatant buffoonery for the audience’s sheer delight, where acts of whistling, shouting and similar displays of enthusiasm are wholeheartedly encouraged – in fact, we almost insist on it!” he said.

The Good Old Music Hall Days appears live, at Leiston Film Theatre, on Wednesday 19th October, at 2.30pm. Tickets are priced at £10 and are now available from the Leiston Film Theatre box office on 01728 830549 or online at: www.leistonfilmtheatre.co.uk
