The Band of the Royal British Legion
The Band of the Royal British Legion, Leiston has got off to a great start to the year with preparations well underway for a number of parades, events and concerts.
We are extremely lucky to have tremendous support from our band family and local community. Last year one of our dedicated fans very kindly knitted and presented each player with a ‘knitted bandsman’ with our likenesses beautifully recreated in wool! Thank you Angela!
The band is also celebrating significant monetary support from the Sizewell C Fund. A grant of £59,497 was secured and the committee is working hard getting ready to spend the money on new uniforms, instruments and a shiny new trailer to tow all our kit in. The band is an entirely volunteer run organisation and funds such as this enable us to invest in top quality equipment.
Your next opportunities to hear the band:
- On parade in Wickham Market, marking the town’s Royal British Legion 100th Anniversary, noon on Sunday 12th April
- Playing at The Long Shop Museum’s Steam Up event, Sunday 19th April
- Join us at St Margaret’s Church, Leiston for a Spring Concert, in the afternoon on Sunday 10th May
