When is a Tree Not a Tree
When it’s the Green’s “tree” in the Church for St Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival. Go along to the church to see a twinkling display of lots of our town’s community groups, hosted by the Church.
And if you’re more interested in increasing numbers of the real thing – there will be special opportunities on the Green in January. The Green is running a project with the Environment Agency to plant groups of trees along the waterways and against the railway. The waterways will benefit from the shading which cools water in summer, and the railway bank that was denuded of mature trees alongside Blyth Meadow a couple of years ago will get a copse of new life at its base.
Come and help plant these trees on the Green on the mornings of Wednesday 22nd and 29th January. Get in touch for details on thegreen@halesworth.net or ring Nicky on 07715 047391. We provide gloves and tools, you just need to bring a drink and nibble for a break. For general information about the Green have a browse on our website at www.millenniumgreen.halesworth.net
And last but not least, White Bridge. We’re hoping to have an informal celebratory gathering at the Bridge once it is open for use again, keep an eye out for further details.
