Summer at Halesworth library

It’s been a very busy summer at Halesworth library so far and our summer holiday events are going very well. It’s not too late to join in!

The Summer Reading Challenge – This year’s theme is ‘READY, SET, READ’. All children aged 4 – 11 years are encouraged to take part in the Challenge – to read 6 books, collecting stickers and prizes as they read. It’s lots of fun and there are treasure hunts and activities in the library for our younger readers. Children can still sign up for the challenge which runs until 10th September. The Celebration event for children who’ve completed the challenge will be held on 21st September from 4.00pm – 6.00pm.

We still have some tickets left for our Summer Holiday Activities for children aged 3 -11 years

Our Wednesday afternoon events have been very popular and well attended. There are still tickets available for the following events – the tickets are £1.00 per child and booking is essential – just pop along to the library for more information and your tickets.

  • Wednesday 23rdAugust, 3.00 – 4.00pm: The Tricky Twister Magic Show and Balloon Twisting Workshop
  • Wednesday 30thAugust, 2.00 – 4.00pm: Horsey Antics with Redwings Horse Sanctuary

There are also some spaces left on the final sessions of our Blank pages project – a series of creative workshops for 10 – 16 years

Teenagers from 10 – 16 years have been having fun in the library at our FREE creative workshops as part of the Blank Page project! The days run from 10.00am – 3.00pm, include lunch and snacks and are open and free to all students. Our final workshops are with Poppy Stevens, a Spoken Word Poet and Theatre artist, and will take place on Monday 21st and Friday 25th August

PAWS-itivity – Raising Pounds with Hounds

Our library Labrador has arrived!

This summer every library in Suffolk has a dog sculpture for you to enjoy. Suffolk Libraries is a charity and PAS-itivity is our latest and biggest fund-raising campaign. The Labrador reflects the library as warm and welcoming to everyone, non-judgemental and always there when you need them. Our Labrador is called ‘READADOR’ and has been decorated by artist Marjoke Henrichs, who is best known for her book illustrations including ‘Ready! Said Rabbit’. Readador, who has been supported by the Friends of Halesworth library, celebrates the joy of reading and all the little dogs have their noses buried in her books. Pop into the library to meet our Labrador and find out more about PAWS-itivity.
