We are looking for an apprentice to learn how to turn flat printed sheets into finished products. Print finishers are responsible for all the steps after printing to the finished product. This includes cutting flat sheets, folding sections, collating, and binding into books. It could be gluing pads or stitching booklets. There are lots of techniques to be learnt and you must be dynamic and flexible in the way you work.
The role requires operation of heavy machinery, and you will learn how to adjust and set the equipment for the job that is required.
You will learn to:
  • Read works instructions in order to plan your workload
  • Set and operate machinery including folding machines, guillotine, stitching line and binders
  • Carry out basic maintenance of the equipment
  • Problem solves to correct faults or problems
  • Report any issues relating to quality, specification and deadlines
  • Check final output meets specification
  • Complete records and logs
  • Work safely, keep areas tidy, report and safety concerns
