Children’s charity gets Christmassy at open air event in Woodbridge

Elves, Elsa and an evil ice queen welcomed special guests at a spectacular Christmas trail in Woodbridge.

Fresh Air Events, the team behind the Christmas on the Hills event in Woodbridge, greeted 35 families and staff from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) on Monday.

They were met by a magician, a naughty Grinch, reindeer, and Father Christmas himself before exploring a tunnel of lights, a candy cane walk and an elf workshop and toasting marshmallows by Santa’s sleigh.

Christmas on the Hills, based at Seckford Hills, right next to Seckford Hall Hotel, has been created by a Netflix film director who has worked on award-winning films and music videos.

The immersive, family-friendly trail features special effects, live actors and music as well as a host of festive props.

A spokesman for Fresh Air Events said: “We were delighted to welcome families and staff from EACH to our event and see so many happy, smiling faces.

“We’d love to raise as much money as possible to help the hospice continue to care and support children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.”

Donation buckets and posters with QR codes are located throughout the trail to enable people to donate.

Tina Burdett, Community Fundraising Manager at EACH, added: “We always welcome the opportunity to raise money and awareness for EACH so we’re delighted to be working with a local attraction offering a fantastic, fun and festive experience for everyone.”

Local business M & C Engineering collected and put up a giant Christmas tree on the trail as a donation to the charity for everyone to enjoy.

Christmas on the Hills is suitable for children of all ages and is set to run until Christmas Eve from 4pm-8pm.

Tickets cost just £8 per person and under twos go free. The entrance fee includes a small gift from Father Christmas. Snacks and marshmallows are charged extra and are available at the end of the trail.

Tickets are available in entry slots to avoid over-crowding. Booking is advised.
