News from the Pear Tree Fund

On behalf of all the trustees, staff and volunteers of the Pear Tree Fund, I would like to wish you all a happy and healthy 2021. It with sadness that we had to close the doors once again to The Pear Tree Centre until further notice. None of us envisaged the devastating escalation of this virus, and that we would still be in this situation a year later. However, it is such good news that the vaccines are now being distributed and we can all look forward hopefully to a happier summer where we can once again socialise with our families and friends.

Our manager Seva Newrick and deputy manager, Jackie Leftley will continue to work from their homes. We have had to furlough Thora and Anita and we look forward to welcoming them back in the not too distant future. Should you need to contact Seva or Jackie at the PTC then please ring on :01986 899655, or email: peartreecentre@peartreefund.org.
All our services for people living with a life limiting illness will continue, including counselling, although currently this can only be done by telephone.

Dee’s Den, our charity shop will also remain closed for the foreseeable future.

The Pear Tree Fund (formerly known as the Halesworth community Nursing Care Fund) are continuing to support patients registered with Cutlers Hill Surgery in Halesworth by funding extra nursing and supportive care and occasional equipment for those diagnosed with a life limiting illness, as well as offering care and support at the end of their lives.

Donations in the last couple of months have been received in memory of Mrs Anne Clark and Mrs Deanna White and further donations in memory of Mr C Shiers.
Our deepest condolences to all their families and friends and we thank them for thinking of us to receive these donations.

Donations have also been received from Craft Co in Southwold, Ann Murley and through Golden Giving on our website: www.peartreefund.org. Thank you so much all of you.

We would like to thank the Halesworth WI for donating a silver birch tree to the Pear Tree Centre.
This was presented to Seva and Thora by members of the WI, the President Molly Page and Pat Miller . Molly’s husband, Robin very kindly planted the tree for us. Thank you to you all.

Finally, we would like to thank Mrs Lois Hunt (one of our patrons) for donating the funds to purchase 2 beautiful pieces of textile art by local artist, Jo Budd to the Pear Tree Centre. It enhances the meeting room beautifully and we can’t wait to open the doors again for you all to see.
