Christmas 2020 in Beccles

A Big “Thank You “ to all those who supported the Beccles Christmas activities 2020.

The Beccles and Business Tourism Association, Hungate Church and The Mayor of Beccles would like to pass on their “Thanks to  You” the community of Beccles and all the businesses for taking part in the Beccles Christmas Tree Trail 2020, The Christmas Lights Switch on and The Hungate Tree Festival in its virtual form this year.

These events brought more festive spirit and colour to Beccles this year making it very colourful  market town encouraging people to come, shop and families to enjoy doing the trail with all the lovely  Christmas decorated windows . A very high standard as always.

The first event was the virtual switch on of the lights by Ash Lever our Mayor this year accompanied by our amazing team lead by Colin and Michael Crisp, Brett Snowling and Alex Moore for installing the lights again this year. Not an easy job but the weather was kind and they all looked amazing as usual.

We had 70 trees this year in the tree trail  which was exceptional with prizes sponsored by the Beccles Pantomime, Tesco’s and Morrison’s. The best dressed window was judged by the mayors daughter and tree by the participants of the tree trail . This year went to Couture Hair and Beauty by Stacey, a new business to the town in Blyburgate sweeping the board which was brilliant with so much effort and imagination.  To see all our many new  businesses in the last year getting involved was so pleasing to see their support for the town with all the existing businesses was very refreshing especially in the strange times we have been in and the worrying times that all businesses have had to endure,

We raised £350 which we donated to St Michaels Church towards all the work they have been doing in the community with the food bank and help to the elderly.

The Hungate church not being able to have their Tree Festival in the church this year went virtual with some superb pictures on social media which reached thousands of supporters. As a first they were delighted with the response and the organisers want to thank everyone who supported it and hope that next year they will be back to normal again for this Christmas event.

Once again many thanks for taking part and let’s hope 2021 will be better for us all in business and your families. Shop Local and support Beccles to keep it the place we all love and enjoy..

All our very best wishes from the Organisers, Stay Safe and let’s hope 2021 will be better for us all.
