Stan and Ollie - 27 June : at the Masonic Rooms, Redenhall Road, Harleston
Harleston Film Group will have a treat in June with the screening of the BAFTA Best British Film-nominated Stan and Ollie starring Steve Coogan (BAFTA best leading actor) and John C. Reilly.
People of pensionable age who remember well the bittersweet slapstick, comic repartee and perfect timing of their films will revel in this portrayal of an extraordinary cinematographic relationship - and younger audiences can enjoy it all anew. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were a legendary comedic duo who formed a unique partnership in the between- and early-2WW-war years, bringing audiences to tears of laughter. The film portrays their relationship as they set out on a tour of Britain in the twilight of their careers. While they face an uncertain future, the charm and beauty of their performances shine through, making each other and their audiences laugh, reconnecting them with legions of adoring fans, old and new.
The film will be shown at Harleston’s Masonic Rooms on Thursday, 27 June at 2.00pm and 7.30pm (doors open 1.30pm and 7.00pm).
Entry £4.00 per person.
Tickets may be booked in advance from Harleston’s Information Centre in Exchange Street, telephone 01379 851917.
