Grit bin volunteers needed
Your Community Needs You!
WINTER is coming and with the snow and ice, walking and driving can be difficult. However, these conditions can be improved with the addition of a little Community Spirit through the input of Gritting Volunteers.
In 2010 there was a change in Suffolk County Council’s (SCC) Insurance Policy and the change allowed residents to use local grit bins on local roads and pavements but not on private roads and paths. Following the Insurance Policy change, the Suffolk Volunteer Gritting Scheme was setup.
County Councillor Caroline Page in partnership with Woodbridge Town Council has funded grit bins in the following locations:- Ash Close, Barton Road, Beresford Drive/Nelson Way (by Play area), Bridgewood Road, Castle Street/Naverne Meadows, Catherine Road, Collett’s Walk, Deben Road, Fitzgerald Green (Sun Lane), Haughgate Close, Ipswich Road/California, Ipswich Road (Sandy Lane junction), Little St John St (outside Doctors Surgery), Market Hill, Mill Lane, Naughton Road (junction Millview Close), Outside Community Hall, Station Road, Oxford Drive/Magdalen Drive, Oxford Drive/Seckford Hall Road, Peterhouse Crescent (lower end of The Green), Peterhouse Crescent/Newnham Avenue, Portland Crescent, Queens Avenue, Queens Head Lane/Burkitt Road, St John’s Hill/Castle Street, Turban Centre (in East of England Co-Op delivery yard), Warren Hill Road/Hillyfields, Warwick Avenue.
Sadly there is no funding for new grit bins.
