Grit bin volunteers needed

Your Community Needs You!

WINTER is coming and with the snow and ice, walking and driving can be difficult. However, these conditions can be improved with the addition of a little Community Spirit through the input of Gritting Volunteers.

In 2010 there was a change in Suffolk County Council’s (SCC) Insurance Policy and the change allowed residents to use local grit bins on local roads and pavements but not on private roads and paths. Following the Insurance Policy change, the Suffolk Volunteer Gritting Scheme was setup.

To be covered by the SCC Insurance, volunteers need to be registered and this is a very simple process. All the registered Gritting Volunteer needs to do is agree to a few basic requirements and follow the Snow Code.
